Planning a getaway for the Grand Final long weekend? Our 3-day itinerary showcases why you don’t need to look any further than Kingston! This guide highlights must-visit spots for breakfast, outdoor adventures and local dining.
Follow along as we explore the best of what Mordialloc, Cheltenham and Moorabbin have to offer!
Day 1 – Mordialloc
Start your long weekend adventure with a visit to Main Street Café. Found on the bustling Main Street of Mordialloc, Main Street Café has been a local favourite since 2009. Dig into the main street breakfast for a classic brekky spread or the chili scramble if you want to start your day off HOT!
Main Street is just a hop, skip and a jump away from Mordialloc beach, so make your way over there next! Explore stunning white sands and the famous Mordialloc Pier. It’s the perfect spot for a stroll (because you can’t forget about relaxation during your long weekend)!
Let’s be honest, is it really a footy celebration without a pie? Make the quick trip over to Ivan’s Pies in Braeside for handcrafted pies and pastries. Don’t forget to stock up on extras to enjoy during the game or for your Grand Final party.
Finish off your day Urban Ground. Tucked away in the Mordi , feast on food from a variety of food trucks in the open-air beer garden. Paired with a drink from Saint Felix, the distillery next door, you’re looking at the perfect end to the day!
Day 2 – Cheltenham
Get your hands on a pastry from Bromley’s Bread. All of their pastries are hand-rolled right here in Kingston. Indulge in a croissant, cruffin, scone, danish and more. How can you say no?
Don’t want to miss the Grand Final? Don’t worry! Liberty Brewing Cheltenham is showing the game live and loud across three screens. Sip on some yummy New Zealand beers while you watch every minute of the action.
Work off those beers with a walk or bike ride around Kingston Heath Reserve. It is one of the most popular parks in Kingston and has a range of recreation activities and open space to enjoy. Stretch your legs and gear up for the rest of your long weekend!
Day 3 – Moorabbin
It’s hard to find toasties better than the ones at Toast It. They’ve got twelve amazing flavour combinations to choose from, including plenty of veggie and gluten free options. Grab a coffee with your toastie and you’re ready to go!
Next, sharpen your history knowledge with a trip to Moorabbin Air Museum. The museum was founded in 1962 and is run by a dedicated group of volunteers and members. Today, it has one of the most significant collections of aircrafts and engines in Australia.
What’s a long weekend without some shopping? Get your hands on great deals at DFO Moorabbin. From clothing and footwear to wellness and homeware, there’s something for everyone!
Finish off the perfect weekend with dinner at Fat Bob’s Bar and Grill. One bite of their gourmet burgers and you’ll be hooked! They are made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients and are melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Not to mention, the restaurant is filled with vintage signs, cars and hot rods!
